BREAST CANCER ADVOCACY OF TENNESSEE
COMMITTEE
Breast Cancer Advocacy of Tennessee organized in 2023 to increase awareness of and garner support for The Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. Our mission going forward will be to advocate for public policy, both state and national, that will positively impact the health and welfare of breast cancer patients and survivors. While not organizationally linked to the National Breast Cancer Coalition, we rely on their leadership, advice, training and policies to guide our efforts.
BCAT is not a 501(c)3 organization and does not solicit contributions. All we ask is that you take action to support our mission and urge Congress to pass the bill in 2025.
TAKE ACTION
Urge your Congressional representative to cosponsor the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. Use the National Breast Cancer Coalition's easy tool to identify and email your representatives.

In Memoriam

Sylvia Cappellino
On August 8, 2024, Breast Cancer Advocacy of Tennessee (BCAT) lost our beloved founder, Sylvia Cappellino. A breast cancer survivor and 84-year-old dynamo, Sylvia brought us together and inspired us with her passion for life, compassion for others, and dedication to our mission.
In addition to starting BCAT in 2023, Sylvia was a founding member, board member and chair emerita of the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester – a 501(c)3 organization that is the only full-scope, independently-operated organization focused on serving breast and gynecologic cancer survivors in Central and Western New York regions.
Sylvia and her husband, Jim, moved to Middle Tennessee in 2006 to be near family where she continued to live an impactful life. Sylvia was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many in both Middle Tennessee and Rochester, New York. She is greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her and call her a friend.
If you wish to honor Sylvia’s life and work, you may make a contribution in her memory to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester and by urging your Congressional delegation to support the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act now.
